List Building…Several Ways To Build A List.

Before you begin to build a subscriber list you need some place to send the subscribers. This can be a blog, or a website. Many new marketers choose to start a blog because it appears to be easier than learning how to build a website. Actually this isn’t true. Blogs require a lot of time and constant maintanance to be successful.

You do not have to be a techie person to build your own website. It takes a little knowledge and a lot of patience. How long will it take you to learn this new skill? If you start in the morning you can have a site up and running that same afternoon. Yes you can do it!

Once your website is up and running you will need to set yourself up with an auto-responder. Don’t let the sound of this scare you. An auto-responder is a service that does several very important things for you.

  • They allow you to prepare e-mail messages to send to the people on your list in advance.
  • Your list can be stored on their site for you.
  • They keep accurate records of the number of people who visit your web site and how many join your mailing address.

The best known and possibly the best auto-responder is Aweber. Their services will cost you about $20 a month and is well worth it. If you have ever seen an opt-in box, on a website, where you leave your name and e-mail address in exchange for some free information, it probably came from Aweber.

Now that you have your website on-line and have an auto-responder to handle sending e-mails to your subscribers, How do you build a list?

There are several ways you can attract visitors to your site:

  • Participating in Giveaways can attract lots of subscribers. Online Giveaways is free and it works well. For a period (usually two weeks), someone will do a giveaway and people will contribute a free gift. This is usually an eBook but some people give away software also.

If you don’t have a gift of your own to give away you can write one or get the rights to aproduct to give away. Usually you can get one for free. When you have your product ready, sign up and load it to the giveaway site, you can find these events by going to…..www.newjvgiveaways.com

  • Article marketing is a good, free way to generate a subscriber list. Once published, articles will drive people to your site for months or even years to come. These articles should be of good quality and be submitted to Article Directories such as… ezinearticles. com, sitereference.com, about.com. You can also google Article Directories and get a list of them.

  • Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising is an effective way to advertise, but it is not for the faint of heart, those with a limited budget, or those who do not completely understand this process. Essentially, you write a short, compelling ad based around hot keywords. You bid on the keywords at GOOGLE and they place your ads on appropriate sites. Each time someone clicks on your ad you owe GOOGLE.
  • Participating in forums. If you are an expert in your niche you may generate a following on forums, but don’t expect to just go there and advertise. They will block you from posting there. Offer good advice and get to know the members before you try to sell anything. In forums you are allowed to put your website address and so capture names and email addresses to build your list.
  • Leverage is very important. It is putting a system in place where you benefit greatly from minimal effort. For instance if you have a free eBook or if you have the rights to one you can make several smaller articles and submit them to several directories to help build your list. There are forums that have a section where you can give away your eBook. This is using leverage.
